Crew: Mike Gould-Captain; Monica-crew
About: Mike & Monica have been sailing since 1986. Our sailing started out in a swing keel 23 foot McGregor named Camelote. We sailed her on Smith Mountain Lake for many years until she was moved to Deltaville, VA. After several years sailing there time came to move to a bigger vessel. Neverland was bought in Annapolis MD in 2000. Camelote was sold to a young couple from NC. We were glad to see the sailing bug start anew with another young family. We have made trips from the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia to Maine and back in Neverland. She was shipped to France in 2006. There we made several trips in the Mediterranean moving east every year until 2018. We sailed west from Greece to Spain covering 1365 nm over a relaxed few weeks in August of 2018. Mike has crewed on other vessels in the open sea. We completed the World Cruising Club's ARC+ 2019 from Gran Canaria to St Lucia via Cape Verde. We sailed for three and a half months from September to December 2019 and logged over 5000+ nautical miles from Spain to Aruba. April to May 2021 sailed from Aruba to Inagua, Bahamas. Then on to Stuart, Florida, USA. Sailed on to Beaufort, NC. Followed the ditch to the Chesapeake Bay and then home to Davis Wharf where we are settled in for the next several seasons.
We are comfortable cruising double handed and feel that is the best way to cruise as couples. We look forward to many more adventures in the coming years.
Mike: is a retired mechanical engineer. he worked for a nuclear power company designing tools for inspection and repair of nuclear power plants. Currently he is working solo on the Gould Home for their retirement. He enjoys a small business repairing and refurbishing antique clocks. His ship responsibilities are the navigation, ship upkeep & repairs, pre-departure readiness.
Monica: is a PCUSA pastor serving on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She serves a yoked community of two small wonderful energetic and loving congregations. In her spare time she enjoys planning the next sailing adventures with Mike. She really enjoys the tasks of provisioning, using her imagination with meal prep, and night watch duty. And when time allows she enjoys her many crafts, writing, & reading and spending time with family and friends.
